My Teaching Philosophy:  Learning should be fun!  Four and five year old's have a natural excitement about learning.  My goal is to run with that excitement!

I teach the skills that they will need to know to be successful in kindergarten and other educational avenues.  I do not push them to know or do something that is not developmentally appropriate for their age.
One of my philosophies is "A child's work is a child's play:!

Renowned psychologist Jean Piaget notes, “Play is the work of childhood.” and Mr. Rogers elaborates on this statement by saying “Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning.”

In a school setting, there needs to be a balance of both play and serious learning, across all grade levels.   When we structure our teaching to include an element of play, even in higher grades, children are learning as well as having fun.  They are working with materials that are familiar and intuitive for them which helps them to concentrate on the new information being taught.  Different types of play also incorporates multiple learning modes (auditory, visual, kinesthetic) which can also help children retain concepts.   https://www.pacificnorthern.org/

About Me:  I have a bachelors degree in Early Childhood/Special Education from BYU-I.  With that degree I have a teaching certificate, which is current.  I have taught preschool for 5 years out of my home.  I absolutely love it!  I have had 4 of my own children enter kindergarten.  I think it is crucial to give them the skills that they will need to be successful their first year in school and for many years to come!

My husband and I have 4 children.  Twin boys who are sixteen, one daughter who is thirteen, and one boy who is almost eleven.  Our family likes to do anything outside.  In the summer we love to float the river, play at Rigby Lake, go camping, 4 wheeling, watch outdoor movies and have lots of bon fires!  In the winter we love to sled, snow machine, ski, and play lots of board games!

Experience:
Idaho Department of Health and Welfare with the Infant & Toddler Program, Developmental Specialist.
Journeys in Rigby as a Habilitative Interventionist working with children.
In schools in the Title 1 program where I helped children who struggled with reading.
After school programs in Utah
Partial Care in Rigby Idaho
CPR certified
